And baby makes three...

Matt and I have spent some wonderful time together. Movies and long walks during the week, and weekends in Banff and Radium. On June 22, Matt left for Malaysia to do a practicum for his Disability Studies degree. Having him gone was a very difficult time for us both, but this was also when we realized how much we wanted to be together forever. We stayed in touch via e-mail and very expensive daily phone calls, but I missed having my best friend around every day. During this time, I started to feel 'under the weather'. This continued for a few weeks before Matt started asking if I was pregnant. I continually said no, as I have been told for many years by several specialists that I would never be able to conceive a child. On my way home from work on July 17, I decieded to stop at my local drugstore to pick up an at-home pregnancy test, knowing that Matt would call shortly and ask again if I was pregnant. I was going to prove him wrong! The first test came out positive, but I didn't believe it so I went back to the store to buy a second test. When this test came out positive, I still didn't know if I believed it. I decided to head back to the store to buy a third pregnancy test! I was paying for the third pregnancy test in 15 minutes (the clerk thought I was crazy!) when Matt called. I didn't know what to say, so I just blurted it out. I don't think he knew how to respond, as we had both come to terms with the idea of adoption down the road. The next morning I went to see my family doctor, who confirmed the pregnancy. Matt and I have truely been blessed with a miracle baby, one that we never dreamt we would be able to have. We are now over 15 weeks along, with a due date of January 30, 2006. I am very fortunate not only to have found such a wonderful man, but to be starting a family as well.
