Winter is officially here!
Winter has officially arrived! On Monday, Calgary was the second coldest place on the planet, only behind Antartica! I will be very happy once this cold spell snaps!
Matt, Caleigh, Molly and I went to Saskatoon for Thanksgiving. We were a little nervous driving on the highways, but we took our time, made lots of stops, and took back highways. It was a nice drive! We were in Saskatoon for about 5 days, it was nice to be back. We had not seen quite a few people since the accident, and it was nice to see everyone again.
For Remembrance day, we packed up again and went down to Montana. It was great to just sneak away for a couple days. The weather was nice, and we were able to get quite a bit of shopping done. Matt and Caleigh enjoyed the outdoor hot tub that was basically beside our condo, and I really enjoyed just relaxing for a few days - oh, and shopping at Target!
Things with rehab are going well. Matt and I see our physiotherapists twice a week, and our massage therapists twice a week. Caleigh goes to daycare with Michi on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday so it enables us to be able to go to our appointments. Matt finds physio to be a big help, and I find that massage therapy has been so good for me. I have a few pinched nerves in my neck now which have been causing quite a bit of pain, but I trust that it will get better with time.
Matt has been back to working 4 hours a day. He has been doing really well at work lately. He hasn't been travelling, which is nice for us! He usually only works in the mornings, which allows him to do his rehab in the afternoons. He has landed a couple big contacts recently, and the calls keep coming in! I am reallly proud of him. He worked for a really long time pounding the pavement, and it is really paying off now!
Things with the baby are going well. We have had some really scarey moments in this pregnancy. I have been bleeding off and on since the accident, and have been having some pretty bad cramping. At 28 weeks, I was diagnosed with an irritable uterus, which I found to be pretty funny! Basically, my uterus is done being pregnant and is faking labor symptoms. I have regular contractions which come at regular intervals, no different than active labour. The only difference is that the contractions don't cause me to dialate. They also noticed that baby is breech, which means that if he doesn't turn on his own, I will have to have a c-section. Because of the placenta problems I have been having, they will not attempt a manual turn for risk of detatching teh placenta. I see the ob every 2 weeks for the next month, and they will just keep checking to see if he has flipped. At my 32 week appointment, the noticed that I was measuring at 37 weeks. They sent me over for an ultrasound right away, as they were concerned that I possibly had too much fluid. Turns out, this baby is just really big - eek!!! He is head down, and his head is very deep in my pelvis, which is great news! It means that there hasn't been any major damage from the bleed and that the placenta is doing a really good job of feeding this little (big) guy! We are hoping to be induced around Christmas, and I would love to have a delivery similar to that of Caleigh's! I guess my only fear at this point would be delivering at home.....
Other than that, we are jsut getting into a new routine of our 'new normal' and I am actually starting to enjoy our new lives! Insurance has backed off quite a bit, our doctors appointment have become quite routine, and everyone is getting a little more sleep (which is huge!). I think Matt and I are just anxiously waiting for this little guy to arrive and the next stage of our lives to begin!
See you soon,
J&M&C&B&M
