Welcome to our blog! We wanted to keep a record of our adventures and keep in touch with our friends and family that live in other cities. Matt was born and raised in Medicine Hat, Alberta and Jennifer was born and raised in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Molly joined our family in January 2007, Caleigh was born in July 2008, and Miller was born in January 2011. Since then, we have been very busy raising our family and having a little fun along the way!

Life with 2 kids....

Hi everyone,

Lots has happened since my last post, so I will try to update everyone as quickly as I can.

A few days after Miller was born Mom came to help. She was in San Diego accepting an award for work when he was born, and flew here straight from California. It was such a great help, especially for Caleigh. She wasn`t feeling very well while she was here, so I was really glad that she was able to rest while she was here. I was really worried about Caleigh adjusting to life with a little brother. Having mom here was great for Cal, it gave us a chance to help her settle a little bit. Dad had to come to Calgary for work again so he was able to meet Miller as well. I was really happy to have them both here. Devin, Angie, and Ashton also came to Calgary for a few days to meet our little addition. It was great to have them here and spend some time with them.

Caleigh has really been struggling to adjust to her new life. She really loves her little brother, but she would like a little more attention from mom and dad. Both Matt and I have been trying to spend extra time with her, but I think it will just be a matter of time until she settles into her new role as big sister. She is getting really great with her colors and her numbers. She tries to count almost everything, but rarely gets past the number 5 in the correct order. She is going to Mitchi`s house 2 days a week, and is really learning alot while she is there. Caleigh has a new found love for shopping, loves watching movies (Beast Belle, Ariel, and Lilo to name a few), and loves her flashcards. She is an expert at the iPod Touch, and has many games that she can play on it. She seems like such a big girl all of a sudden!

We decided to go to Saskatoon for the Family day long weekend in February so Miller could meet the rest of the Garner family. We had planned to stay for a few days, but ended up staying in Saskatoon for over a week...

The week before, Caleigh brought home a cold from daycare. Unfortunately, both Matt and I caught the cold from her. On the wednesday before we left for Saskatoon, all of us went to see the doctor. He reassured us that it was nothing more than a cold, and that it would have to just run its course. On Thursday, we drove to Saskatoon. Everyone was feeling a little better, but Miller was starting to cough and sneeze a little which worried us. We had tried so hard to make sure he did not catch what we had, but it was looking like he was getting sick too. By friday night, he was having troubles breathing because he was so stuffed up. Matt and I took him to the emergency room to have a doctor look at him. They checked his lungs and temperature, and decided that it was just a cold that needed to run its course. Throughout the weekend, he just kept getting worse and worse. His breathing was very laboured, and he even had serveral bouts of apnea. We were supposed to drive back to Calgary on Monday, but decided to take him back to the hospital before we left just to make sure it was safe for him to travel. Very shortly after arriving back at emergency, the doctors realized how sick he was and decided to admit Miller. We were taken up to the Pediatric Acute Care (PAC) ward, where he was put in isolation. They tested him for both pertussis as well as RSV. They started an IV in his scalp, as well as drawing blood and monitoring his heartrate, oxygenation levels, and breathing rate. The tests came back positive for RSV, which was the least serious of the conditions that they tested him for. He stayed in the hospital until Wednesday, and we were allowed to take him back to Calgary on Saturday. It was a very long and stressful week. Thank god for Angie who took care of Caleigh during the days for us, and for my mom and dad for supporting us throughout this time. I was very thankful for all of the love and support we received in Saskatoon. It just reminded Matt and I how important family is, and how grateful we are for what we have. Miller is doing much better now. Today is the first day that he smiled at me (on purpose, not just gas pains!) and was cooing at me all morning. I am so glad he is finally feeling better.

Hopefully this is the end of the drama around our house for a while.

Love you lots,
J&M&C&M&M
