Last Long Weekend of Summer 2007
I know it is the last long weekend of the summer, but Matt and I are laying low this weekend. I missed two days of work this week due to illness. We were supposed to go to Uncle Don and Auntie Kims cabin for the weekend, but I really wasn't feeling well, and didn't want the kids to get sick right before they went back to school. We decided to take a rain-check, so hopefully we will be able to get up there in the next little while.
Matt and I flew back to Saskatoon last weekend for Jay and Hilary's wedding, and it was really nice. Their ceremony was at the Berry Barn, and the reception was at the Sheraton. Another great wedding, another fantastic family gathering! Devin was able to get the weekend off after all, so it was great to spend some time relaxing with them. It was also really nice to see some family that we haven't seen in a while. Shelley and Taylor flew up from Carolina, so it was nice to see them again too! While we were in Saskatoon, Matt had a chance to stop at the University to talk to some people about getting into the College of Medicine there. It would be nice to finally get back home, and if we could both have a career in the city would be fantastic.
Molly took her first plane ride to Saskatoon. We were really happy, as she was really well behaved on the plane. She wasn't too sure what was happening on the outbound flight, but by the time we flew home, she was an old pro! She has such a great ime in Saskatoon. She is always busy playing the huge yard, and hanging out with her good friends Shadow and Bhody. She always needs a few days of sleep once she gets home!
Shane started his practicum for school this week. He is teaching at a school in rural Saskatchewan, and I think this will be a very rewarding challenge for him. He is teaching Grade 6, and I'm sure it will be intimidating at first, but a really good learning experience. We sure hope he is enjoying his new room mate Doris!
Matt and I had to go out today to buy him some new glasses. They needed to be replaced, but Molly simply sped up the process when she got ahold of them yesterday! Matt left them on the floor of the bedroom, and Molly saw an opportunity that she could not pass up. After another 'time-out', we finally decided to go buy him a new pair. I have been dreaming of a new fridge, but glasses are more of a necessity than a fridge!
Matt and I had our friends Andy & Nat and their little guy Colby over for dinner tonight. It was great to see them again, we should really spend more time together! We made a great dinner, and had some fantastic conversation. Colby was able to fall asleep upstairs, which gave us some more time to catch up. He sure has grown up since the last time we saw him, and he is a very cute little guy!
Matt's friend Aaron is in town tonight on his way to Edmonton. He brought his wedding pictures with him, and they turned out beautifully. They went to Thailand on their honeymoon, so it was great to catch up on their trip.
Matt starts school next week, so he has been busy trying to get ready for that. It will be really nice to get into a new routine with his classes. I think he is excited about finishing his degree and moving on to the next stage of his educational career.
Other than that, nothing too exciting around our house. Matt and I don't have too much planned for this month, but Devin, Angie & Ashton are coming out for a visit at the end of this month! It will be great to see them again, and it will be really nice to spend the weekend visiting with them. Maybe Angie and I will be able to get some shopping done too!
Hope this finds everyone enjoying the last long weekend of the summer,
Love Lots,
