So much has been happening.....
Alot has happened since our last blog!
On January 20th, Matt, Caleigh, Molly and I loaded up the 4Runner and made another trip to Saskatoon. This was a pretty tough trip to pack for! We were going to be in Saskatoon for a few days, then Matt and I were taking off for a week in the Dominican, and going to spend a few days in Saskatoon again once we got back from our trip before coming back to Calgary. Caleigh and Molly would be in Saskatoon for almost 2 weeks! I honestly think I packed our entire house! Well, everything except Matts winter jacket! It was a little cold in Saskatoon in January without a coat. I also left a list of instructions for Mom and Angie outlining Caleighs schedule and other things, but I think I got a little carried away! It was a few pages long....
On the 21st, we took Caleigh over to Devin and Angies new house! It was really nice to see them getting settled in, and so nice to have them back in Saskatoon. Thier house is beautiful, and we cant wait to spend more time with them on our trips to Saskatoon. We left Caleigh there when we left, as our flight left very early the next morning. I will admit, it was really hard leaving our little girl! Caleigh stayed at Uncle Devin and Auntie Angies house until Saturday. She had a great time, and was completely obsessed with Ashton! It made it much easier to leave her behind knowing that she was in such good hands. Angie emailed us photos and videos every day while we were gone, and it was so nice to have a little glimps of her whiel we were gone. On Saturday, Grandpa came over and picked up both Caleigh and Ashton and took them back to his house. I hear they had a great time, but I think Grandpa had his hands full with both of the kids! I dont think Grandpa would have had it any other way though! Grandma and Caleigh spent the rest of the week hanging out, shopping, and even going swimming with Ashton and Angie on Thursday. She had such a great time. Matt and I sure hope that Grandma and Grandpa will have another week available to babysit and let us escape again!
Matt and I left for Punta Cana on Thursday, January 22nd. The flight was great and we actually landed a few hours early! Our resort was beautiful and the beach was incredible. We spent most days sleeping late, laying around the pools and beach, napping, and having a few drinks! I dont think either of us realized how tired we were until we got to our hotel! Our resort was huge, and it took a few days to figure out where everything was. It was great to spend some time alone, have long dinners, and enjoy come cocktails after dinner. We definately missed our little girl, but when we saw people struggling with their little ones, we were pretty happy that ours was at Grandma and Grandpas having a great time! We decided to take a day trip while we were there. Matt really wanted to go swiming with sharks and sting rays - needless to say, I was a little hesitant! We booked the trip anyway, and it was great! They took us out to a floating dock in the middle of the ocean where we spent the day snorkling, kayaking, and of course swimming with sharks and sting rays. I thought the sharks would be little ones, but the first one I saw swam right past Matt and was definately bigger than him. It was scary, but Im glad we did it! Punta Cana was beautiful, but I dont think we would stay at that hotel again. I think the day we flew home was the longest day of my life! We were sad that our vacation was over, but so anxious to get home and see our baby! Mom, Dad, and Caleigh were at the airport when we landed. I was a little worried that she would play strange when we returned, but she smiled and squeeled when she saw us. It was so fantastic to hold her again!
We spent a couple of days when we returned in Saskatoon. Dad got us tickets for box seats at a Blades game, and it was so much fun. Caleigh and Ashton looked very cute in their matching Carolina Hurricanes jerseys, and they both really enjoyed the game. Matt and Dad went to Devin and Angies one afternoon and helped install the new garage door opener. I hear it works great!
Dad was able to come our to Calgary for a few days for work. Unfortunately, he spent alot of time actually working while he was here! It was really nice to have him here again, and Caleigh really enjoyed getting rocked to sleep by Grandpa again. Maybe Grandma will join him next time...
For Family Day Weekend, Matt, Caleigh, Molly, devin, Shane and I all went out to Uncle Dons cabin in Windemere. They have such a beautiful place right on the lake, and it was great to escape from Calgary again, even if it is just for a few days. The guys went to Kicking Horse on day to do some boarding. I think they had a pretty good time. Devin and Shane also got a couple more days of boarding in, while Matt and I just relaxed and enjoyed the scenery. We went for a walk through the shops and galleries in Invemere, and took Molly for a few walks. After Caleigh went to bed at night, we all enjoyed the hot tub. It was a great weekend!
Caleigh is getting to be such a big girl! She is sitting up on her own now, and very curious about the world around her. Molly provides alot of entertainment for her, and she loves the exersaucer Ashton got her for Christmas. She will take steps if you hold her hand, and she is always so proud of herself when she moves around the room. No crawling yet, and actually, no attempt at crawling at all. I keep trying to get her onto all fours, but she wont even do that. No teeth either. She does roll over in both directions, but she has to have a really good reason to, otherwise she just puts her head down and waits for someone to come pick her up!
Matt and I have some travel planned for the next few weeks. Matt has to go to Edmonton with work, so I think we will join him for a few days. We are also going to Saskatoon for Grandma Stevens 80th Birthday Party. Matt also signed up for a conference in Saskatoon, so we will be going there for a week right before Easter! It will be really nice to spend Easter with all of the family!
Sorry this was so long, I will try to update more often so that each blog isnt so long!
