Welcome to our blog! We wanted to keep a record of our adventures and keep in touch with our friends and family that live in other cities. Matt was born and raised in Medicine Hat, Alberta and Jennifer was born and raised in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Molly joined our family in January 2007, Caleigh was born in July 2008, and Miller was born in January 2011. Since then, we have been very busy raising our family and having a little fun along the way!

Arrival of baby Miller!

Hi Everyone! Just a quick update to let you all know (not that you haven't heard) that on January 12th ay 3:38am Jenn, Caleigh, Molly and myself welcome our son Miller Aden into the world.
Jenn and I had been contending with doctors appointments the previous two weeks and were begining to wonder if the day would ever come. The fatigue and stress began to wear on us until we received a call on Tuesday January 11th at around 8:30PM from Foothills Hospital.
It was the labour and delivery unit calling to say that they had an opening for Jenn on the induction list and for us to come in right away. We quickly gathered up our stuff and Caleigh so we could drop her off at Michi's for an overnighter. The setting and mood was identical to Caleigh's delivery with us checking in and getting a room right away.
Our nurses name was Alex and she was great! She prepared us for the night and paged to Anesthesia team to get set up so Jenn could have an epidural right away. As we waited, she also started an IV for Jenn and did it in the first poke! The Anesthesia team came in and briefed us on the procedure which we were familiar with. The resident doctor told us about some of his training in the US and that he knew Dr. Hardy from RGH whom I had worked with. Again, first poke and the Epi was in.
As we got settled, Alex our nurse ran some drugs in Jenn's IV to induce labour. Jenn and I got comfortable and played some games on the Ipod to distract us from the wait. We had come so far and the time was near, yet it seemed we were going to have to wait another week before the baby came.
Thankfully, that was not the case because as I went to get some tea and a sandwich (my secret routine that helped Caleigh arrive!) the nurse checked Jenn and noticed she had dialated another 2cm. Things were looking good and Jenn began to have regular contraction every minute. We hadn't been under the 4 minute mark previously so I knew it was close.
Alex called for the delivery team and within minutes the Dr's began to enter the room and prep. Dr. Fehey was the OB on call and she had two residents that were very helpful.
Jenn began to push around 3:15am and the contractions were wicked for her this time. Caleigh's delivery was very fast and Jenn didn't have to push much. However, this delivery was slightly different in that we had a bigger baby to welcome. Jenn lost faith that she could do it, but the team and I encouraged her that she could do it and that she was so close. Even the British nurse Barbara!
At around 3:35 our baby boy was almost out and one big push by Jenn was enough to see the head and shoulders come out. and at 3:38am our son was born!
Miller Aden Husband entered the world kicking and screaming like we wanted and the staff checked him out to ensure his lungs were clean.
Jenn did so great throughout the delivery and I am very pround of her!
We are so blessed to have Miller in our lives, especially given the circumstance we faced in August with the bad car accident. Baby and sister Caleigh are doing great!
Thanks to all of our family and friends for your support and love. We love you all!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!!

Welcome to 2011!!!

On December 18, we hosted Matt's family for Family Christmas Dinner. It was the first time we had his entire family in our new house, and it was a really nice treat. Matt and I managed to make dinner for everyone, which was really suprising! We tried a new idea for the gift exchange this year. Everyone just bought stocking stuffers for all of the adults. It was a really fun idea! I enjoyed shopping for stocking stuffers, and we received lots of neat little stuff!

On december 19, Mom, Dad and Shane arrived. I was so relieved to finally have mom here! I am getting quite big, and having more and more difficulty doing every day things, like keeping up with a 2 year old! That night, Uncle Don, Auntie Kim, Delane and Graeme came for dinner. It was really nice to see them again!

We had a great week with Mom, Dad and Shane. Matt and Dad worked really hard all week long, and they were able to do all of the electrical work in our basement! They spent many hours at Home Depot and the electrical store, and I cannot believe that they were able to complete the entire basement! Mom and I worked around the house getting all of the laundry done (mostly mom), making freezer meals (mostly mom), and cleaning the house for the arrival of baby (again, mostly mom). Although we worked hard all week, everyone still managed to find time for some fun. Mom, Dad, Matt and Shane were all able to go skiing and snowboarding this week. I was very proud of all of the work Matt has done at rehab to prepare himself to go boarding. I think he was a little nervous about his back, but everything was really good. Mom and dad had not been skiing for many, many (many) years, and they both had a really good time.

On Christmas eve, we all went to the mall so that Caleigh could meet Santa Clause. Santa was on his `lunch break`when we arrived, so we got in the long line up and waited for Santa to get back. the entire time we were waiting (approx 2 hours) Caleigh was so excited to meet santa. We paid almost $50 for the photo package and waited for her name to be called. When it was finally her turn to sit on Santa`s knee, she flipped. Crying, screaming, laying on the floor, it was horrible. We finally took a photo of her screaming on Santa`s knee. The entire ride home from the mall, she was excitedly talking about santa. `Santa smile, Caleigh cry`. everytime we have visited the mall since that day she has asked where Santa is. Only my child.....

Christmas morning was wonderful, as always. I got spoiled, but I think everyone did! Matt got the Wii he was wanting, and I got a Kindle! Caleigh was really great this year, was really excited about Santa;s cookies and milk, and opened most of her presents! We spent the day playing games and making dinner. Overall a great holiday again this year.

New Year;s was pretty quiet around our house this year. Matt and I just put Caleigh to bed and played Mario Brothers until midnight. I`m not too much fun when I`m 9 months pregnant!

These last few weeks have been pretty tough on both Matt and I. I am pretty sore and very tired. Matt is doing his best to keep up with Caleigh and the house, as well as helping me out. We are both very very ready to have this baby! I am now seeing the doctors on a weekly basis, just waiting for them to decide to induce. We are also going to physio twice a week and massage twice a week. I am pretty nervous about my back during labour as well as the health of my little guy, but I am in the best hands with my doctor and the hospital I am delivering at. We just want to see our little guy!
