Welcome to our blog! We wanted to keep a record of our adventures and keep in touch with our friends and family that live in other cities. Matt was born and raised in Medicine Hat, Alberta and Jennifer was born and raised in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Molly joined our family in January 2007, Caleigh was born in July 2008, and Miller was born in January 2011. Since then, we have been very busy raising our family and having a little fun along the way!

We're Back!!!

Well, we are back from Mexico! It feels great to be home! I thought I would write a little summary of the big trip while my memory was still fresh.

On December 31, Matt and I had a very uneventful day of travel, and got to the Riu Tequila with plenty of time to check in, have a bite to eat, and join the New Year's Eve festivities. We had a great time, and it was really nice to finally spend some time together without the distractions of daily life. The hotel was fantastic, and the weather was great. We spent the week shopping in Playa del Carmen, laying on the beach and by the pool, having nice dinners, and some much needed time relaxing. We had our share of Pina Colada's and Cerveza's, and even got into the Tequila one night (never, ever again!). I realized that week how easily you can slip into a routine of simply discussing what happened today, what needs to get done for tomorrow, and the general motions of life. Matt and I spent the week having some great conversations, not about responsibilities and obligations, but about stuff that we haven't talked about in a long time, if ever. It was really great, something that I think we could all do more often.

The week on our own was great, but the closer it got to the weekend, the more excited we became for our once in a lifetime experience of the week to come. I was in total shock to see 25 of our closest family and friends pour into the lobby of the Riu Cancun within minutes of each other! It was definately a moment I will remember for a long time. The flights landed within minutes of each other, and everyone had met by the time they got their luggage! We gave everyone their beach bags full of goodies, had a great night at the terrace bar, and got ready for a day in the sun. The weather was beautiful on Monday and we spent the day drinking on the beach! With a group that size, there is always something going on if you felt like participating. People were playing in the pools and the ocean, playing beach volleyball, shopping at the local markets, there was always a few people at the swim-up bar, something going on. Monday was a great day.

Tuesday was the big day! Unfortunately, we woke up to a tropical storm. The sky was grey, it was raining really hard, and it was really windy. I couldn't believe it! The weather had been pretty good up to that point and the one day we needed some sunshine...the sun was tucked behind some really dark clouds. At this point I just wanted it to stop raining so that we could go outside. Our photographer arrived at 2 pm and lifted my spirits. She said the sky was giving the best lighting you could ask for, and that the beaches would be perfect as a result of the rain. She was right! The photos are incredible, I could not have asked for anything better! The wedding day itself was a nightmare. I'm sure in a few years, we will look back at the day and laugh about it with our friends and families, but it is still a little fresh to laugh about! Basically, anything that could have gone wrong, did. Things that I didn't think could go wrong, did. The day itself was extremely choatic and stressful, but we made it through. At the end of the day we accomplished what we set out to, we're married!!! If I could do it over again, I think I would. Due to the choas, there were many things I forgot about that if given the chance, I would definately do them. There were things I forgot to do, things I forgot to say. I would have loved to have had more time to spend with my parents, my brothers, my bridesmaids, and the people that mean the most to us, but that just wasn't how things happened that day. I sincerely hope that those people know how both Matt & I feel about them, and know that words will never be able to express how grateful and lucky we are to have people like them that love and support us unconditionally. We love you guys dearly, and will never be able to thank you enough. YOu guys were the ones that stood by us on our darkest days, and pulled us up. We are so thankful that you were there to share one of our best days with us. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!

The rest of the week was great. I wish that the weather had been better, but we made the most of it. The day after the wedding, Matt & I and the Garner clan went on a really fun excursion. We took speedboats (that we were allowed to drive!!) to a snorkeling spot where we snorkeled for about half an hour before driving back. It was so much fun. Friday night we all went on a pub crawl to Dady-O's, Congo, Senior Frog's and Coco Bongo. What a great night!!! Coco Bongo is definately a bar to be seen, I don't know if there is another one like it in the world! Senior Frog's was alot of fun too, Rod even got zapped in the electric chair! Fantastic time, would definately go on that pub crawl again.

Flying home was brutal, as all flights are, but we managed. We would like to thank everyone that came down to see us, and hope that you had a great time. Special thanks go out to my parents who brought down half of the wedding stuff (including my dress!), Devin & Angie who left their very cute 6 week old son Ashton behind so that they could be a part of our big day, and also to Dean & Robyn who are expecting (congratulations!) but not feeling very well. Knowing that you guys all did so much, and sacrificed just to make sure we had a great day is amazing. We love all of you!!!

Hope to see you soon, and I promise I will get the photos figured out this week!

That was a very nice summary of the great time in Mexico. We had a wonderful time. (I would say it was lovely but you know that). Everything about it was great. Thw weather, the drinks, the food, the drinks, the company, the drinks. the The best part was watching our beautiful daughter marry a wonderful man. You both were wonderful hosts and made all of us feel welcome and glad that we came down. You have great friends, who also made us feel very welcome. Thanks for sharing your special day!!!
