Leap Year!
Seems kinda strange that its February 29th...
I think I need to start the update from February 15th. Matt and I got up very early and went to the Fetal Medical Centre for our ultrasound. It is a very detailed exam, lasting at least an hour. They check all of the bones and organs to make sure the baby is healthy. Matt and I were very nervous, scared that the past may repeat itself. We were never really given an answer to what happened last time, so we had no idea what the odds were that it could happen again. We got called into the exam room, and the ultrasound tech was the same lady that we had last time, which is really good since she did such a good job and was such a nice lady. She measured every bone in the body, and checked out all of the organs, and the baby is completely healthy!!! We couldn't believe it. I was crying, it was such a relief. I don't think either of us realized how stressed we were about it until we were told that everything was okay. We go back again on March 14, and if everything goes well there, we will be dismissed as patients for the remainder of this pregnancy from the genetics centre! I am sure everything will be great. Also, we found out that it is a girl! Matt and I were both very suprised as we both thought it was going to be a boy. Now to pick a name...
Matt, Molly and I just got back from a great vacation to the US. We left for Hope, Idaho almost immediately after our doctors appointment on Friday. It was a beautiful drive through the mountains, we had no problems at customs, and got to the condo at about 7:00 that night. We unpacked and just enjoyed the days events! We spent the next two days exploring the area and doing a little shopping in Spokane, Washington. We were able to find a crib, change table, and a stroller that we absolutely love! I couldn't believe it, it was almost too easy. Everything we wanted was in stock, and about half of the price we would have paid in Calgary. Shane and Paige arrived late Sunday night. It was great to see them! Monday, they three of them went to Schweitzer to go snowboarding. The conditions were fantastic. That area has more snow than they have had in over 10 years, the sun was shining every day, and it was usually about 40-45 degrees (about 7-10 Celcius). On Tuesday, Matt and Shane went on a snowmobiling tour through the mountains. Paige and I went shopping. Wednesday found them all snowboarding again, while I got some R&R. Thursday we all went to Spokane to spend some of our hard-earned money in the malls. We found some great deals, and were able to spend all of our money! The only thing that finally stopped Matt and I was the size of the 4-Runner! I don't think it would have held one more thing! On Friday, we decided that we were not ready to go home, so all four of us headed over to Colombia Falls, Montana. We were able to get a condo there for the weekend. Shane and Paige went snowboarding on Saturday, and Matt and I spent the day wandering through the shops in Kallispell. Sunday morning we packed everything up (again!) and started our way home. It was such a great way to spend a week! I was really happy about Molly the whole time. She travelled like a pro, sleeping in the back seat the whole time. She was really well behaved (for the most part!) and seemed to enjoy having us around all the time. I think she will be great when the baby comes.
Matt and I are heading to Medicine Hat this weekend to visit his grandma. She is not feeling very good, and has been in the hospital for a while now. We are going down on Saturday and will stay with our friends Dean & Robyn and their baby Lainey. It will be nice to see them again too.
I will try to post some of the ultrasound photos that we got, and some of the pictures of our trip.
